Former Olympian Nelson Miller’s Arthrosamid story

Nelson Miller competed in taekwondo at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and is now a High Performance Coach for Great Britain’s national taekwondo team. Arthrosamid has just published a case study on his treatment for knee osteoarthritis with our Injection Service Lead, Ben Harper.

Years of knee pain

Nelson spent 14 years competing at elite level, often training through injury. After he retired, coaching kept him on his feet all day demonstrating techniques, and the pain in his knees became hard to manage. He was limping out of sessions, coaching from the floor to take the pressure off his joints, and finding even walking an effort, especially in the colder months.

Choosing Arthrosamid

Ben has managed Nelson’s knee for years, working through options from pain-relieving gels to steroid injections. When Ben suggested Arthrosamid, Nelson was keen to try a non-surgical option with minimal downtime, rather than face a knee replacement and a long recovery.

He had a single Arthrosamid injection into his right knee, with no side effects, then followed a rehab programme of conditioning and weights each morning before coaching.

The result

Nelson now walks and cycles without pain, and rates the improvement in his quality of life at as much as 70%. In his words, “Since the injection, I’m back to loving my coaching.”

Every knee is different, and results vary from person to person. You can read Nelson’s full story on the Arthrosamid website.
