FAQ

What should I expect at my first consultation?

When you arrive we will start by taking some personal details before completing a detailed history of your injury/pain. We will then use this information to guide a physical examination where we will confirm a diagnosis and explain why this injury has happened to you. From here we will agree a management strategy and may use a range of interventions such as hand on treatment and rehabilitation to resolve your issues. We will also send you away with a handy video guide on how to manage your injury/pain away from clinic, empowering you with the knowledge of how to get better.

What should I bring with me?

It’s always helpful for patients to bring any referral letters or imaging reports (e.g. MRI’s) to their consultation as this aids the assessment process. If you are a patient with healthcare insurance, please bring your insurance policy details with a relevant authorisation code.

What should I wear?

Loose fitting clothes such as a gym top and shorts makes it easier for us to assess you. We would recommend females to wear a sports bra if you require assessment of the neck or shoulders. Well fitted trainers are always advised.

How long is an appointment?

An initial consultation is typically 60 minutes long. Follow up appointments range from 60, 45 or 30 minutes in length and are priced accordingly.

How much do you charge?

Costs vary depending on your service and whether this is included in a package or single session. A full price list can be seen under the “Services” tab on the homepage.

How do I pay for my treatment?

We accept cash, credit or debit cards.

Can I use private healthcare insurance?

Yes. We are registered with BUPA (Provider N: 80014204), AXA (Provider N: AC07232), AVIVA (Provider N:600151395), Vitality (Provider N: SP101909), WPA (Provider N: 921131653), Cigna, Healix, Medicash and Simply Health. We need your policy number, authorisation code, number of sessions and details of any excess to complete your booking.

Do I need a GP referral?

You do not. Simply use the book button to select an appointment or call directly on 01270 748200.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course, we have space to accommodate a friend, coach or family member whilst you are having your physio appointment.

Can physios diagnose?

Yes. We specialise in the diagnosis and the management of musculoskeletal injury and can liaise with other medical professions to perform further investigations and interventions.

Can physios refer for MRI?

Yes. We can directly refer you for a private MRI, ultrasound scan or X-Ray if needed. For CT scans we can write a referral letter to your GP or consultant for them to authorise the image. We will also liaise with our trusted radiology service providers and arrange an appointment for you.

Can physios prescribe medication?

Some physiotherapists conduct additional study to have prescribing rights to give you medication. In clinic we have knowledge of the medications typically effective to manage certain pathologies but can’t prescribe these directly. But we will write a referral letter to your GP or consultant to direct this management.

Can physios give cortisone injections?

At Invicta, we have a specialist joint injection service on site that offers corticosteroid injections, Ostenil®, Arthrosamid®, and Hydrodilitation for frozen shoulder. We use an ultrasound guided approach when necessary to improve the safety and effectiveness of this intervention. If an injection is out of our scope of practice we can make referrals to the appropriate consultants for you.

Why go private for physio?

If you were to see a private physiotherapist you could expect: 1) shorter waiting times – we could usually see you the same day you contact. 2) Convenient appointments – we have a range of appointments including mornings, evenings and weekends. 3) No GP referral – email info@invictahealthandperformance.com, book online or call 07360217233. 4) Hands on treatment – something that is discouraged in NHS practice. 5) Tailored Rehabilitation – we specialise in rehab plans tailored to your needs, no cookie cutter approaches!
